Ive's elevator and office

Going for a stream-lined, sleek and simple approach, much like the products Ive himself designs for Apple

Ive's space thus far

Jonathan Ive, designer of Apple's appearance, is not the face of the the company which keeps taking the world by storm, but is one of a team of masterminds with an eye for aesthetic behind the products that are selling like hotcakes. For this reason, in contrast to Oprah's workspace and her location which oversees the created landscape, Ive is located humbly within the working of the city, in a sleek, contained structure.

Oprah's office and elevator

Oprah's office, inspired by her infamous 'O' logo and universal trademark, sits high up above the crumbling, transforming environment, as a tribute to her praised, and perhaps even worshiped, position in society. Her elevator, however, allows for some privacy, as a human touch and grounding element, as the walled structure sits within the sheltered centre of the large 'O'. The elevator stops in a sequence, whereby once leaving the workspace, the elevator stops at the (not-yet-developed) bridge that connects to Ive's working quarters, and then transports the occupant to the ground of the 'valley', where there will be a dining table for the two figureheads to take a break from their work.

landscape development

In the pursuit of creating an urban valley, I referenced Ken Yeang and his 'living' buildings. While the urban streetscape can be seen as a plunging canyon, between a row of imposing
sky-scraping,essentially, concrete pillars, this is not enough to really further my project. So in the name of the theme of power, I have created a somewhat apocalyptic, or perhaps just
overgrown, morphed cityscape, where the offices of clients Oprah Winfrey and Jonathan Ive will emerge from the rubble and mess below, at a great height, in the new
concept of a city.
